As the third weekend of the 2011 spring turkey season rapidly approaches, I am looking at the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife calendar, which has a beautiful picture of a strutting turkey on it, that says last year KY hunters harvested over 36,000 turkeys. This makes me want to take off work right now and head south to one of Team M.a.F.i.a.'s farms to do my part on adding to the number for this year. I cannot however, like the vast majoty of us, my time in the woods is limited by church, family, work, and any number of things that this way too busy modern lifestyle puts in front of us. Where ever this weekend puts you; in the woods, on the lake, sitting at a baseball game, or in a church pew; take a moment to slow down and reflect on how blessed you are to be doing what you are at this moment. I wish you well in whatever it is you get to experience these upcoming spring weekends. I pray that mine are filled with turkey gobbles, shotgun blasts, cheering at the crack of a baseball bat, and praising God from the pew on Sunday mornings.
